A reading nook is mostly a chair you already own plus four or five small fixes. Somewhere to put the book down. Something that holds the page open while you eat. Something to stop the shelf leaning. Something warm across your knees.

If you buy one thing, make it the bookends. They are the cheapest item here at a few dollars, and a shelf that has started to lean is the thing you notice every day without ever getting around to fixing. The book stand is the one that changes how you actually read - eight tilt angles and page clips means you can eat, take notes or knit while a paperback stays open at eye level, and it folds completely flat when you are done. The throw and the backrest are the comfort half of the list, and between the two the backrest earns its place faster if you read in bed.
